As a small business owner, or any owner at all for that fact, you are faced with many challenges, or as I like to put them ‘opportunities for growth’ and sometimes the losses outweigh the wins.

Since starting B.OKideas I have learnt more than I could have imagined and met many amazing people in the wellbeing and mental health industry and 2 things continue to stand out to me:

  1. Practise what I preach
  2. Celebrate all the wins – no matter how big or small

And I must admit I am not always good at doing these things – I find it hard as a one-woman show to remind myself of the wins or see when I have done something to create positive change and help others.

However it is moments like these when I receive a letter from the Senator Hon Michaelia Cash that I have had a chance to really reflect and understand the power of what I am creating. Without a boss to tell me I am on the right track or quarterly reviews to check in on my progress in the workplace, this acknowledgement has done this and more!

To know that B.OKideas has not only been nominated as the Australian Small Business Champion Finalist but to receive a letter of acknowledgment to continue our efforts to support people during person and professional changes is enlightening. See for yourself what we are working on and who we work with:

Thank you again Hon Michaelia Cash for your acknowledgment, it has had such a positive impact on my day, week, month and year.

As always, I want to leave you with the notion of how much power a simple letter could have on those around you like it has done me. Furthermore the power of what you say, how you interact or support others would have?

Always here,

Kietah Martens-Shaw
